This was a fun little tool that I would sometimes put effort into when trying to distract myself whenever I felt stuck on where to next take some of the larger systems. It did help save time for a number of team members, especially the level designers and animator. They could quickly save some input and not need to pick up their controller again for a while. One of the more fun bits for me however was designing its extremely optimized custom binary file format. You could save very long recordings in very small files (with an optional much larger json export.) I had plans for maybe trying to drive some AI locomotion and action from input recordings, but I never got to it.
